Questions about EDTs
Everything people ask about extreme daytrips, weekend city breaks and city hops.
What is an extreme daytrip (EDT)?+
An extreme daytrip, or EDT, is a same-day return trip: you fly out in the morning, spend the day in a city and fly home the same evening. No hotel and no overnight bag.
Can you really visit a European city in one day?+
Yes. With an early direct flight out and a late direct flight home you can get a full day in cities like Paris, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Rome or Porto. Exdatrips only shows trips that give you a real day in the city after airport transfers.
How much does an extreme daytrip cost?+
Many EDTs cost less than a train ticket across the UK. Every price on Exdatrips is the current total return fare for one person, often from around £20–£60, and it is checked again every day.
Which airports can I fly from?+
EDTs leave from UK airports including London Stansted, Luton, Gatwick and Southend, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Liverpool, Newcastle and Belfast, plus Dublin, Cork and Shannon. Weekend city breaks also leave from major European airports.
Are the flights and prices real?+
Yes. Every trip is a real, bookable flight combination from live airline data, with the outbound and return already matched. Prices change constantly, so always confirm the final price with the airline before booking.
How much time will I have in the city?+
Each trip shows your City time: the time left in the city after landing, the airport transfer each way and getting back to the airport in good time. It is a planning estimate, not a guarantee.
What are weekend city breaks?+
Weekend city breaks are proper city breaks: fly out on Friday or Saturday morning and come home on Sunday, with one or two nights away. Flights only — don't forget to book accommodation.
What is a city hop?+
A city hop is two European cities in two days: fly to the first city, hop to the second by a short flight or a morning train, and fly home from the last one. One night in each city, from London, Manchester, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Bristol and Dublin.
Do I need a hotel?+
Not for an EDT — you are home the same night. For weekend city breaks and city hops you need to book your own accommodation; Exdatrips does not sell hotels or packages.
Do I need a passport for a daytrip to Europe?+
Yes. You need a valid passport that meets the entry rules of the country you visit, and possibly other documents. Check the official entry requirements and government travel advice before you book.
Can I go with hand luggage only?+
Most EDTs need nothing more than a small bag. Baggage allowances differ between airlines and fares, so check what is included before you book.
How do I book a trip?+
Each trip has a booking link straight to the airline. You book directly with the airline — Exdatrips is not a booking agent and never takes your payment for flights.
What if my flight is delayed or cancelled?+
Your rights and options depend on the airline. A same-day trip leaves little margin, so consider travel insurance and keep an eye on your airline's app on the day.
How much does Exdatrips membership cost?+
Monthly is £3.50 a month (£2 for the first month), Yearly is £35, and you can cancel any time. Members unlock every trip, the hour-by-hour plans and the booking links.
How often are trips updated?+
Every day. Trips are checked again every morning and removed when a fare disappears, so what you see is current.
