City & Beyond questions

What is City & Beyond?+

A trip that starts and ends at the same airport. You fly into a big city, spend 1, 2 or 3 nights there, take a short train to a town nearby for a night, then ride back and fly home that afternoon.

Why fly in and out of the same airport?+

It's simple. You can often book one return ticket, and you only need to learn one airport.

Do I need a night back in the big city before I fly home?+

No. On the last day you take a morning or midday train back from the town and fly home in the afternoon or evening. We only show trips where the flight home leaves late enough for that.

Is the train included in the price?+

No. The price is the flights when we last searched. The train fare is an estimate, booked separately with the operator, and fares change all the time. Always check before you book.

What if the train back is late?+

The train and the flight are separate bookings, so the airline won't wait. Take an earlier train than you need on the last day, check the timetable the day before and consider travel insurance.

Does Exdatrips book anything for me?+

No. Exdatrips is an information service: we find the trips and give you direct links. You book the flights with the airline and the train with the operator yourself, so every booking, price and condition is between you and them.

Do I need to book accommodation?+

Yes. Hotels aren't included, so book your own beds: one in the city for the nights you choose and one in the town nearby. Check the check-in and check-out times fit your trains.

Train times are typical and booked separately with the operator. All city hops are inspirational suggestions only. Each flight and train is a separate booking, so connections are not protected: if one leg is delayed or cancelled, the next one will not wait. Exdatrips is an information service and cannot guarantee any connection, and is not responsible for delays, cancellations, missed connections or any costs that follow. Allow extra time, check the latest timetables and consider travel insurance.

Prices and availability change constantly. Always confirm the final price, times and conditions with the airline before booking. Read the city hop FAQ.
