Times in town are estimates. After a flight we allow about 30 minutes to get out of the airport plus the airport transfer. Trains between cities are planned at about 11:00, after breakfast and check-out. Time to explore counts from when you reach the city until 21:00, and from 10:00 on the next day until you leave. Before a flight you leave town with time for the transfer and 2 hours at the airport.

Each leg is a separate one-way booking, direct with the airline or train operator.

Pisa is more than its tower. Beyond the Field of Miracles there is a lively university town of riverside palaces, arcaded streets and cheap, good food. The airport is one of the closest to any city centre in Europe.
An easy day in Pisa
- From the airport the Pisa Mover shuttle reaches Pisa Centrale in about 5 minutes.
- Walk up Corso Italia and across the Arno to Borgo Stretto and Piazza dei Cavalieri.
- See the Leaning Tower, Cathedral and Baptistery on the Piazza dei Miracoli; book a tower slot ahead.
- Finish with a sunset walk along the Lungarni, the river embankments.
- If you have time:
- Lucca — Walled city about 30 minutes by train.
What to try
- Cecina, a warm chickpea flatbread, often eaten in a focaccia sandwich
- Tuscan crostini and a glass of local red
- Gelato from a shop away from the tower crowds
