Times in town are estimates. After a flight we allow about 30 minutes to get out of the airport plus the airport transfer. Trains between cities are planned at about 11:00, after breakfast and check-out. Time to explore counts from when you reach the city until 21:00, and from 10:00 on the next day until you leave. Before a flight you leave town with time for the transfer and 2 hours at the airport.

Gothenburg is Sweden at its most relaxed: canals, trams, a great seafood scene and the wooden houses of Haga. The Flygbussarna coach reaches the centre in about 30–35 minutes.
An easy day in Gothenburg
- Take the Flygbussarna airport coach to Nils Ericson Terminal or Kungsportsplatsen.
- Walk to Haga for fika, then up to the Skansen Kronan fort for the view.
- Lunch at Feskekôrka, the fish market hall shaped like a church, then wander the canals and Avenyn.
- In season, finish at Liseberg amusement park before the coach back.
- If you have time:
- Haga — Old wooden-house district, famous for giant cinnamon buns.
- Southern archipelago — Car-free islands, reached by tram and ferry on your public transport ticket.
- Universeum — Science centre with a rainforest and aquarium.
What to try
- A giant Haga cinnamon bun (Hagabullen) with coffee, which is fika done properly
- A räksmörgås, a towering prawn open sandwich
- Fresh fish and seafood from Feskekôrka

Copenhagen might be the easiest city in Europe to arrive in. The Metro runs from the arrivals hall straight into the centre in about 15 minutes, every few minutes, all day. The city is flat, compact and very easy to walk.
An easy day in Copenhagen
- Take the M2 Metro from the airport to Kongens Nytorv; you come up right next to Nyhavn. Your ticket needs to cover 3 zones.
- Walk Nyhavn, Amalienborg and the Little Mermaid in the morning, then cross to Christianshavn and Christiania for lunch.
- Spend the afternoon in Tivoli Gardens.
- From Central Station the train or Metro gets you to the airport in about 15 minutes, so you can stay late.
- If you have time:
- Rosenborg Castle — Renaissance castle with the Danish crown jewels.
What to try
- Smørrebrød, the open rye sandwiches, at a classic lunch place
- A cardamom bun or a proper Danish pastry (wienerbrød) from a local bakery
- A hot dog from a pølsevogn street stand, with crispy onions and remoulade
Christmas market: Tivoli Christmas · 13 Nov – 3 Jan
